Vintage Laurel Burch Scarab Silver Plate Earrings
Ancient Egyptians believed the scarab beetle to be sacred. The beetle (representing the sun) often rolled a ball (representing the Earth) and shepherded it around the dessert. Here the beetle rests atop a metal orb – cast in silver plated brass, about 1 1/4 inches tall.
The revival earrings here are vintage stock from the 1970’s – they were designed by the late artist Laurel Burch and crafted by hand.
